We got a new team on board to help us manage our Social Media. This is very exciting and will further help us raise awareness for our partner charities and their great causes.

We promised to donate £1 to charity for every new FB page ‘like’ and Twitter Follower we get until Christmas. With your help we raised £86 and because it’s Christmas we decided to round it up to £100. The Charity benefitting from your support is ‘Organization For Life Care’ from Cameroon. This is a great charitywith the aim of combating HIV amongst youth and protecting the rights of children and women in Cameroon.

A report published by Coutts monitors donations to UK charities of £1 million or more. It recorded 174 separate donations above the £1m mark with a total value of £1.3bn (2009/10). Whilst this is great news it also represents a drop of 15% vs. 2009/10. This is in line with other reports we’ve previously seen stating that charitable giving is being impacted by the overall economic situation. Research carried out by US communications agency Fenton and public opinion research organisation GlobeScan shows that 41% of UK and 55% of U.S. respondents said that they believed non-profit organisations and charities are highly effective at bringing about positive social change.
